What do you mean, you’ve never heard of a snerd?
He’s brown, fuzzy and super-smart. So smart, in fact, that Snerd knows whether we’ll have to endure six more weeks of winter, or if we can look forward to an early spring.
Meet Snerd and other live animals at a fun, free and educational Groundhog Day event in Garner, set for Monday, Feb. 2 beginning at 10 a.m. Yes, Monday is Groundhog Day!
See, touch and learn more about visiting animals from CLAWS Inc., an organization that rescues and rehabilitates animals in need and provides educational programs.
Also, enjoy activities for the family, including crafts, games and music. Familiar faces at this event will include Smokey the Bear, the Chick-fil-A cow, McGruff the Crime Dog and NC DENR’s Recycle Guys.
And while Mortimer has been Garner’s go-to groundhog for predictions in years past, Snerd takes the stage this year at high noon to offer his weather prediction, which Mayor Ronnie Williams will announce to the crowd.
All the fun takes place at White Deer Park, located at 2400 Aversboro Road in Garner, from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. No pets, please.
