What’s in a smile?
Hope, when your child is facing a serious illness. And that’s what Meg’s Smile Foundation is all about.
The Holly Springs-based nonprofit provides gifts and fun days to children affected by serious illnesses. It was founded by Jim and Terri Wasley in memory of their daughter Meg, who passed away from a brain tumor at just 8 years old.
“We knew we wanted to keep Meg’s memory alive and try to help people, primarily kids, as best we could,” said Jim. “We find out what they like to do. We get to know the family and know the kids.”
“For the families, we know what they’re going through,” added Terri. “We can look at the parents and say, ‘We understand.’”
On Saturday, July 16, you can help further the quest for smiles, as Meg’s Smile Foundation hosts its annual auction event, featuring both live and silent auctions.
Unlike many benefit events, this one is free to attend, and attire is casual.
Auction offerings range from trips to themed baskets, jewelry to sports memorabilia, and more.
Bid on make-and-name your own beer at Brueprint Brewing, a backyard party for 50, or the chance to watch a Hurricanes game from the radio booth with Chuck Kaiton.
Along with music by Adam Love, complimentary heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be provided by JD’s Tavern, Brueprint Brewing, Holly Springs BBQ Co., The Mason Jar Tavern and Pepsi.
The fundraiser will take place from 6 to 10 p.m., on July 16, at The Club at 12 Oaks, located at 2008 Green Oaks Parkway in Holly Springs.
