Love to learn? You are in luck: Raleigh is home to NC State University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI). Located on the edge of campus, members attend daytime courses at the McKimmon Conference and Training Center. Certain courses are offered online. Come learn alongside members of the Pack!
Since 1991, OLLI at NC State has provided hundreds of educational, volunteer-led courses designed by and for adults over 50. For those looking to connect and learn, a $50 yearly membership can be your entry point to a wealth of experiences, from special interest groups to study trips and more.
OLLI members receive affiliate status with NC State University, which offers free admission to non-revenue sports, free transport on the Wolfline, and library borrowing privileges.
Here’s what our members have to say:
“This OLLI chapter is exceptional, in its depth and breadth of offerings. It’s part of why I moved to Raleigh.”
“OLLI has been a remarkable source of inspiration for me! I was very reluctant to retire and am so grateful for the stimulating classes and the amazing teachers!”
Topics cover a wide range withing the liberal arts and sciences, and we emphasize learning for the joy of learning — no tests or grades! Programs range from one-time lectures to six-week courses, and we provide many opportunities to connect with like-minded learners. Recent speakers of note include Secretary of State Elaine Marshall, New York Times columnist Cade Metz, and nationally acclaimed artist Thomas Sayre.
We invite you to attend our Fall Kick Off and Open House on Wednesday, September 4. Learn more about all that OLLI has to offer older adults of the Triangle!
Following the lecture, visit with current OLLI members to learn more about special interest groups, travel opportunities, and social events. You can even tour our classrooms. Light refreshments will be served.
